Turkey's Antalya Airport has a record number of travelers through its lounges

Antalya's international airport south of Turkey has set a new record for passengers through its lounges, marking the highest number in the last two years.

The number of flights received by Antalya airport on Saturday (August 12) amounted to 881 flights.

Passengers from Antalya Airport reached 162,000 passengers in one day, marking the highest number in the past two years.

For its part, Turkish Airlines announced in a statement that its aircraft conducted last Saturday, a thousand and 530 flights in all Turkish airports.

Earlier, Turkey's Minister of Transport and Maritime Transport, Ahmed Arslan, said Turkey's aviation sector had grown by 14 percent in the last 10 years and surpassed European growth rates.

Arslan said in a statement to Anatolia correspondent that the air transport sector in Turkey has witnessed a remarkable development over the past years.

The global civil aviation sector has grown by 5.6 percent over the last 10 years.

The minister pointed out that the number of airports in his country increased from 26 to 55 airports during the last 14 years, and work is underway to establish other airports.

He pointed out that the development of the transport and transport sector, is one of the most prominent indicators of the progress of the state and its rise and civilization.

Turkey is strategically located between East and West, and is a preferred location for transit flights around the world.

Istanbul, the world's largest airport currently under construction, has an area of ​​7,500 hectares (10,000 square meters) and includes six landing strips and 500 aircraft.
